Amazing Sourdough
Organic? YES
You can taste the flavours of California's most famous wine county
coming through in this traditional sourdough. Started with hand
picked Napa County, organic Zinfandel grapes, in October of 1985,
our master baker has carefully cultured A Bread Affair's exclusive
sourdough starter to deliver the ultimate in taste.
The bread is light with a layered crust, perfect for almost any
sandwich you can imagine. At A Bread Affair, we use this as the
bread in our roast beef sandwich.

Whole Wheat Sourdough
Organic? YES
Using the same Napa County, California starter as our amazing
sourdough, this bread takes all the tradition and taste of our
amazing sourdough and blends in the goodness and taste of whole
wheat. Unique to A Bread Affair is the light texture, and our
layered crust of our whole wheat sourdough bread.
This bread is bold enough to handle a sandwich with big flavours
so think about prussuito and gruyere on your next whole wheat
sourdough.

Spelt
Organic? YES
Some enjoy our spelt because it makes the best toast in the world,
some enjoy the rich connections spelt enjoys with the ancient
world, and some enjoy this wheat free loaf because this is the one
bread that they are able to enjoy without fear. Our spelt is made
with a combination of whole spelt and unbleached white spelt
flours creating a delightfully light and airy loaf that is perfect
for any occasion that a wheat based bread is traditionally used.

Country White
Organic? YES
If your mother or grandmother ever baked bread on the prairies
using the wood stove at the summer house or homestead, you'll be
feeling like you were 6 years old again. This bread has a soft
crust of a yeast based bread, and the full flavour of white bread
without the additives, stabilisers, chemicals, sugars, oils and
GMO soy meal found in the industrial white breads.
A traditional white bread, made with the same secret ingredient
that your mother used: love!

Chiabatta
Organic: YES
Italian slipper bread, this thin chewy crusted bread is so light
and airy on the inside, it's like eating a cloud! Fabulous with
dips, oil and balsamic or with soft or creamery cheeses, this
bread's delicate flavour allows any accompaniment to shine
through.
A Bread Affair offers its Chiabatta plain or infused with
rosemary, to suit your dinner, party or barbeque plan.

French Country Miche

This is a hearty peasant bread with all the flavour of traditional
European bread. Simply the finest accompaniment to hearty stews,
soups and broths or on its own. The rich combination of wheat and
rye flours leavened with our natural starter creates a flavour not
surpassed in any bakery either here or in Europe.

Cranberry Semolina
Organic: Made with 86% certified organic ingredients
This bread shows our pride in B.C. and its world famous
cranberries. This showcase product is often served at corporate
morning meetings, at hotels and bed and breakfasts that offer
continental breakfasts, or as your toast at home. The high
protein Durham semolina flour adds a rich, buttery flavour with no
added fats, oils or sugar.
And if your mind thought about how good this would taste with a
turkey sandwich, phenomenal is the only word that comes to mind!

6 Grain Multigrain

Our bakery is next door to the local chapter of Weight Watchers so
we have had inquiries as to whether our bread fits into the
profiles of Weight Watchers preferred products. Well, our 6 Grain
is their most popular bread with low calories per slice, high in
fibre and no added oils or fats.
Or it might just be the crisp crust and rich textured flavour of a
pure grain bread that taken home by almost everyone that tastes
it.

wheat, organic corn, organic triticale, organic barley, organic

Seed Bread

It's crazy to say, but our seed bread is so popular that we think
the birds are spreading the word! A rich whole wheat bread
lightly sweetened with honey and the goodness of flax seed, poppy
seed, sunflower seed and sesame seed. We naturally leaven this
bread over 2 days and bake it on a stone hearth. Great sandwich
bread, especially with other big flavours like roast beef or other
red meats or toasted in the morning to bring out the vivid
flavours of the seeds.

Apricot and Walnut
Organic: Made with 88% certified organic ingredients.
Fabulous with deeply marbled blue cheese or aged cheddar, perhaps
the best toast that you have ever had, or a lunch box treat for
your spouse or children, this versatile bread is one of our best
selling loaves. Our bakers start with a whole wheat dough and add
whole apricots, walnuts, and raisins. No added sugars or oils
ensure that the true flavour of the ingredients shine through and
do not hide whatever topping you are adding. This bread is a
personal favourite of the owner for his morning toast, topped with
peanut butter and honey.

Walnut Rye

Steeped in the history of the Bordeaux wine region of France is
this special bread with a traditional French flare. Low in
gluten, leavened in a traditional manner and high in flavour, this
traditional rye bread is delicious plain or toasted; the perfect
accompaniment to your coffee at breakfast or your wine at dinner.

Whole Grain Honey

When the bakers first created this bread, we couldn't believe the
response. We sampled it for 5 days and every person said that
this was great bread. When it started in our baking schedule, it
sold out every day for the first 30 days and still sells out most
days. A 4 grain multigrain sweetened with honey, it is a perfect
sandwich bread, moist with a rich flavourful taste of the grain.
Come in early so that you won't be disappointed.

Roasted Garlic and Cheese

I love this bread! Served plain, with butter, or with traditional
pasta dishes, this bread is a powerhouse of flavour. We select
and roast whole cloves of garlic to sweeten the flavour, and then
mix the whole cloves in our traditional sourdough. We let the
bread rest for 2 days to allow the flavours to fuse. Just before
we put it in the oven, the loaf is split and stuffed with Gouda,
Cheddar and Monterey Jack. Try it warmed in your oven or on the
barbeque for a real taste sensation!

Sprouted Wheat

Whether the taste of this bread makes you certain that you will be
able to get your spouse or your kids off the white bread habit or
the easy digestibility that sprouted grains have for many people,
this loaf is certain to be one of the most popular in your home.
A customer bought a loaf for the first time one afternoon and left
it on the counter at home. When her teenaged son and a couple of
his friends were done with their snack, she was back buying a
second loaf that very afternoon.
We sprout the full kernel of wheat in the bakery for 3 days, grind
it on site and bake with it. Sweetened lightly with grape juice,
the bread has a slightly nut like flavour that almost everyone
loves.

Light (Montréal) Rye
Organic: YES
Light in gluten, big on flavour, our light Montréal rye is the
perfect accompaniment to your Reuben sandwich, pastrami, smoked
meat or other deli sandwich. The traditional oval loaf, fresh
from our oven is the choice of many of the finest delicatessens
throughout B.C. This earthy bread is made with care using natural
leavening. Free of any seeds or other flavourings, this bread will
let the flavour of your sandwich shine through.

Baguettes
If our bakery could talk, it would mimic Mae West saying, "Is that
a baguette in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" The
history of the baguette is rich with many stories, including the
entertaining one about the French army shoving them down their
pants on Napoleon's long march to Russia. It is a shame that
story is not true, but rather changes in the labour laws in the
1800's in France lead to the innovations which created baguettes.
Our baguettes are the signature product of the bakery, and are
baked in the traditional French method using only flour, salt and
water. This method takes 2 days from start to finish and is a
primary reason why our baguettes have such little competition west
of Montréal (well, we think west of Paris).
Our baguettes have a crust that is crisp and layered as a result
of the stone hearth and steam oven we bake in, with a moist and
open interior. It is little wonder that they are often bought in
pairs, one to eat on the way home and one to actually make it
home.
While our baguettes freeze exceptionally well, we would encourage
you to eat them the same day they were baked. If you are freezing
them for later use, please try to place them in a sealed plastic
bag as quickly after you arrive home as possible.
It is easy to restore the crispy crust that will soften due to the
humidity we enjoy during the winter months. Simply preheat your
oven to 425 degrees F (about 220 C). Place the baguette in the
hot oven for about 2-3 minutes and remove. Serve immediately.
Traditional Baguette

Light and airy on the inside with a crisp crust, our baguette is
so versatile! Whether you are serving them as the bread basket at
a formal dinner, sliced length ways for a sandwich or simply by
breaking a piece off on the way home from the bakery, A Bread
Affairs traditional baguette is perfect for all occasions.

Rustic Baguette

We've added a touch of the country to our traditional baguette
using whole grain flour. The crumb is a rich natural wheat colour
and a more nut-like flavour compared with the traditional baguette,
but still light and airy, with a crisp crust. If you prefer the
flavour of a whole grain bread, this is the baguette for you.
Great anywhere you might use a traditional baguette, or with
stews, soups or other hearty meals. Try it as toast! Perhaps you
will add the expression "Circle Toast, please" to your breakfast
table!

Sourdough Baguette

We take our famous sourdough but shape it as a baguette to
increase the amount of the crisp, layered crust. The result: an
amazing sourdough that is perfect for your spinach dip, other
spreads or sliced length ways for the best sandwich that you are
